Title: Scammer alert
Post by: caccobra on June 10, 2025, 06:47:46 PM
Be careful with new member DannyDe. He pm'd me about an ad I put in WTB and referred me to an obvious scammer and claimed the scammer was a "reliable seller". He may be either working with the scammer or is actually the scammer himself playing two roles. The scammer was lifting old photos off the Internet from more than one original car and claiming he had the part in those pictures. He's not the brightest pencil in the pack, but he's dangerous for the members here and is committing fraud.

Law enforcement won't get involved. Only recourse is to sue them. And if they are bankrupt, a judgment of that nature might be dischargeable in bankruptcy.

There is nothing to be gained by doing the aforesaid.  In fact, it could invite a lawsuit for libel in the event the owner was able to find a lawyer desperate enough to take that case.  Truth is always a defense in slander and libel actions as I stated in another post somewhere within the forum, but that does not stop a frivolous lawsuit that you will have to defend.  Best to cut one's losses and move on.  At least you still have the car and the car loves you and wants to get on that road again with a steady driver at the helm.  Good luck.
