Title: Insurance
Post by: shelbymann1970 on May 27, 2025, 09:19:47 PM
I know this has been discussed before but what are you guys using right now for insurance. American Modern raised my rates 25 percent as of a June renewal. Suggestions?

I'm still using Haggerty - Our 1928 Model A added $14 to the policy (8 months remaining - 3 cars).

I switched from Hagerty to Grundy two years ago. The premium was half of what Hagerty was with a high Agreed Value and a lower deductible.

25 percent is pretty good these days, in my experience. Parish raised mine 80% and I switched to American Modern through a broker friend.

Have any of you ever had to file a Claim and if so, how were they to work with?  I recently had the chance to bring "LITTLE BIRD" back home.  A 1960 Thunderbird that I owned for about 8 Years working on it and sold it about 30 Years ago. It is about 3 feet shorter than Factory. I couldn't pass it up.

to me a 25 percent raise is BS and too typical in the insurance industry. So the eycc c are telling me with zero claims the costs went up 25 percent in a year? American Modern also changed their policy for any new cars last year to min 2500 deductible which was ok for my GT500 since it is being restored and my mach1 and gt350 are grand fathered in at zero

Had to file a claim with Hagerty once.  They were excellent.

American Modern.  Close to same rate as last year- hard to tell as I sold one.

I stayed with American Modern. Yes, the cost is much higher and crazy high compared to what it was 5-6 years ago. I would caution to check the coverage limits and uninsured motorist coverage when comparing. American Modern offered much better coverage than Hagerty was my finding for about the same cost.

Seems my policy doesn't exist with American Modern/Heacock. Seems Heacock is transitioning our policies to another company called American Family. Ive been trying to get someone to pull up mu policy for the last 1.5 hours so be forewarned if you have American Modern you may not be able to pull up your account until the transition is done. The reason I see for my policy going up 25 percent were things added to my policy that I didn't approve. So now I wait for Heacock or American Modern to call me back..... What a way to run a business....

If you have Heacock or American Modern I'd rethink about having them. A day later and they still cannot find my policy even though I have a renewal one sitting right in front of me with the policy number on it. For the record when I put my Gt500 on it it was a 2500 collision deductible and all future cars with them have that. My Gt350 and Mach1 were grandfathered in. Time to go insurance hunting.

I have used Grungy for over 20 years. Each year I would make comparisons and no one was even close. Had a couple of clams, one a total. Never an issue or rate increase!
