I have a used original automatic shifter handle for a 68 Shelby. It is in nice condition and comes with the black push button. Price is $550 plus shipping. Email gandcmurphy@rogers.com if interested. Thanks.
Reduced to $475 plus shipping.
FYI it was also used on 69/70 auto Shelby's too.
Bob, what is the correct placement for the snake on top or on the side. If the side I would assume facing towards the back of the car when installed

Compare to this , Original equipment and service replacement for 1968 , maybe 69-70 were different ?

Both of those would fall into the range of ones that could have been used on the assemblyline IMO. Many service routing outlines are dramatically worse. The same handle was used all three years . Any inconstancy's are inherent in using natural woods and also how the snake half of the two wooden haves is clocked when glued by the human hand onto the metal portion. The routing out of the snake setting is done by hand and varies . The later surface handles are more primitive in that routing process. The factory handles had the set screw facing out. Some of the service handles had the snake of course facing out but the set screw facing the dash
Not a bad price as I paid near that for the one I put on my tribute car. Seems nobody is making them anymore.
