Title: code T red
Post by: 67 GT350 on May 13, 2025, 09:43:44 PM
So, I would like to buy paint for my 66 Shelby, it is a DARK RED CODE T, or, Candy Apple Red, in name. I am seeing that they are selling two different reds, but I want the correct darker red, what is the paint code for the different paint companies ???
Dupont
PPG
Sherwood Williams
etc?

Candy Apple Red Ford # M2008 code T is the correct color. The other red in 1966 was Signal Flare Red code S. Ford used the same paint colors on different models and in different years using different names.
Old paint formulas do not translate to the new paint materials they are using. Ask around and see which brand people found to be most accurate.

For what it's worth, I shot my 67 tribute to lil'red using Eastwood's Candy apple red. Good match, looks good and matched the chip I removed of the original paint.

You could try contacting legendary Motorcar.  They did the paint on my red Hertz and I am very satisfied with the color.  They did the paint in 1995.  I am sure that they must've painted at least a few candy apple Shelbys since then.
