Title: Side Exhaust
Post by: PaulD on May 09, 2025, 12:07:39 PM
Looking for any recommendations or recent experience with sourcing a replacement side exhaust system for my 65. My original system is long gone so I will need the full system minus with mounting hardware. Looking for the most correct system available for a late 65. My floor pans have the typical mounting holes drilled near the seat belt mounts that I would like to reuse.  My car is a late Hayward Ford car and originally came with a rear exiting exhaust, but want to go with the side exiting.

Thanks

Brant at Virginia Mustang has a great and correct system. You don't need to look any further.

Jesse at Shelby Parts & Restoration has also had the system available, he also has correct reproduction headers.

Same manufacturer/system but Brant is priced much better.

Related question. I see two different style hanger brackets depending on the supplier. A two hole bent bracket and a one hole stamped bracket. From what I have seen the inner floor pan hanger would use the two hole bracket. Did the leaf spring use the stamped bracket?

The 2 hole is what I've seen on original cars, have examples of early and late '65 with them.

That was my guess from what I could find photo wise on the internet. I have not found a good photo of the inner floor pan bracket. Did the exhaust clamp just pickup one of the two holes in the bracket? Which hole was used the upper or lower?

Thanks,
Paul
