Hi all,
Is there a repair or part that can be used to replace a missing threaded insert on the end of the fenders for the headlight bucket? I have some fenders I'd like to repair and don't know what to do with these missing inserts. Please see attached image for clarification. Image shows the fender with the insert still in place.
Thank you
Cory
Cory, in all probability, there's a Nutsert here that will work:

Hi,
A simple answer to your question is a nutsert aka rivnut. That is if your original is gone and the sheet metal is still intact. A Google search will show you this. Other possibilities depending on condition of what remains of the original insert and surrounding metal. Hope this helps.

I replaced one about 5 years ago. If I remember correctly, it was the Chrysler pierce nut https://www.amkproducts.com/bulk-fasteners-listing/?codeforlookup=7135
Hi all
Thank you for your input. Together we're smarter. I did find the rivnut shown in the attached image. The Chrysler piercing nut seems interesting. I'll have to check out. Also is it possible to cut up a wrecked fender and surgically remove the nut and then possibly reuse? I might explore this too. Thank you for your help.

Think the challenge (not impossible just something else to overcome) would be mounting/attaching it to the fender since it would have been expanded the first time it was installed so it would be wider than opening in the original fender but the hole in the receiving fender would have to be larger to accept and in turn not hold the insert as it originally was designed to.
