Title: Shelby American Issue #56
Post by: hertzdonut on January 08, 2025, 06:23:02 PM
Would anyone have an extra copy of #56 they could part with? I don't know what happened to mine.
Thanks, let me know,
Terry

Hi Hertzdonut,

Looks like the issue was sold. Hopefully that was you that bought it.

Take care

Cory

Hi Hertzdonut,
Have you ever noticed a "Shelby American" article about Hertz Denver offering a special 1966 GT350H rental deal for the National Ski Patrol? A guy I talked with some time back said that he'd seen an article in "The Marque" years ago, but I'm wondering if it could have been in one of the "Shelby American" issues instead. Since you've evidently got an extensive collection of "Shelby American" magazines - and since you're a Hertz guy - I thought I'd check with you. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Jerry

Thanks, Coralsnake. That's an interesting article. Not "quite" the article I'm looking for, but helpful, just the same. Evidently, Hertz Denver supplied Barrecrafter ski racks and snow tires on their GT350H cars, similar to what this article says. Any idea when it was originally printed? Was it actually in one of the "Shelby American" issues or some other magazine?

Hertz World - how about that. Very interesting stuff. And the cover car is "almost" like my dad's 1966 7-Litre. Very cool. Thanks for the information, appreciate it.

I did get my issues out to look because of your post when I found the missing #56. Sorry to say I haven't found what you're looking for yet but I think I've seen the same article somewhere.  Terry

Yo Terry,
You HAVE seen it? Well, that's some good news all by itself! I was starting to think the whole thing was just a BS story. I sure appreciate you checking your issues looking for it. If you ever happen to find it in some magazine somewhere, I'm still offering a "reward" of $100 for the magazine. Thanks!
Jerry

This will take some time but I will continue to look. It's winter that I love but not as much when younger. Will try. Terry

I forgot to ask, does your friend have any idea of a time frame? T

Well, he thought he'd read the article in one of the "Marque" issues, whatever the date range was for those. I posted an entry in this forum (Literature and Collectibles) back in JUNE, saying I'd pay $100 for a copy of the "Marque" that had the article in it - but basically got no responses. Since then, I began to wonder if the guy had been completely wrong about the article being in a "Marque" issue - that maybe it was actually in an early "Shelby American" issue instead. Obviously, I'm just groping for possibilities. BTW, I really appreciate your help, but don't worry - there's no big rush. Thanks!

Hey, there are some #56's out there on eBay! Unfortunately, the links are ridiculously LONG, but I searched for "shelby american magazine #56" and found 2 of them out there (after skipping through all the non-matching "hits," thank you eBay).

One is $24 + $6.50 shipping, the other is $29.95 + $8.75. There's a 3rd one - but it's in Portugal.
