Post by: Justin1967gt500 on December 26, 2024, 11:30:44 AM
Hi everyone!  Im working on some small details in hopes of maybe getting my car into MCACN next year.  Where would the correct location be for the engine tag on attached pic.  Thanks!!!

Sorry to say; that tag does not belong to a Shelby.

That tag would have been on a service replacement engine.

Marti Auto Works can make a engine tag for you.  https://www.martiauto.com/tags.cfm  The tag for a 67 GT500 would typically be placed under the bolt head securing the coil bracket.

There is also a paper engine identification sticker placed on the passenger front side of the cylinder head. Unfortunately all of the repro stickers that seen are done incorrectly.

Ive read that the paper tags are not correct so decided to not go with that tag at all.  However the other tag would it be better to have a the tag from marti or nothing at all since thats the way the car was found?

I don't know what your expectations are for your car . The car would typically come with a tag regardless of if you found it that way or not. If having the car judged I believe the expectations for the MCACN judges would be a tag under the bolt. That is if having it judged as a restored car. What with computers, printers and tape dispensers many people get creative and make up their own paper sticker.
