Hello, with retirement on the horizon in the next few years, after much soul searching I have decided to offer our 1966 GT350 Carryover #074 for sale. Asking Price: $219,000 but open to offers
***Interested buyers must read the history of this car in the Registry. If you do not have a Registry, contact me and I will send to you.***
#074 was one of the first cars brokered by Peter Klutt who owns Legendary Motors in Canada
It was also owned by Bill & Jean Whitley. Bill was the SAAC rep in the NY area and while he was driving a Cobra, wife Jean became well known in the area driving #074. Their story can be found in the Fall 2010 SAAC Annual magazine.
Another owner of note was Paul Fix, a well known fixture in the Shelby scene.
I purchased the car from Canada just north of Bellingham, WA during Covid. The story of buying the car across the border during Covid and getting it home appears in the Winter 2022 SAAC Annual magazine.
I drive this car at least twice a week weather permitting and everything works as it should and it runs really well. I was able to purchase a Holley carb dated 1st week of July 1965 off the SAAC website and had Drew Pojedinec rebuild and restore. The engine starts with the bump of the key.
From all accounts, the engine is the original engine and is stamped with the corresponding Ford VIN verified by Howard Pardee. The transmission has an aluminum case dated 12/65 and a cast iron tail shaft, so may have possibly come from a later '66 Shelby? The rear end and housing are most likely original parts. The 3.89 tag remains on the rear end which shows the Carryover-only part number of C5ZX-B.
The main variations from the original configuration are a pan hard bar and side exiting exhaust.
Correct drum brake backing plates stamped with FoMoCo and KH 70390 and KH70391 and new 10 X 2 1/2" brake pads, drums and hardware have just been installed along with functioning parking brake.
The odometer shows 54,xxx and talking with past owners that may be accurate but I have no way of verifying.
Again, please read the Registry on this car and contact me directly for more history or questions about the car itself. I am located in a suburb of Denver and have a clean Colorado title.

Calls are preferred but text is fine also. Thanks for your interest.
Engine pictures. The date on the carb is 1st week of July 1965. As mentioned in the ad, I shipped the carb to Drew Pojednic for him to rebuild and restore and it performs really well. The intake is the small letter S1MS intake. The heads have 20 and 21 cast on the corners. The engine block is stamped with the matching VIN for #074 verified by Mr. Pardee.

Interior
More interior pictures. Note there is some fraying of the carpet around the shifter boot. Probably from a previous owner taking a short-cut installing a new shifter boot rather than removing the seat and lifting the carpet out of the way to install the boot.
Tachometer with the "hockey stick" needle.
I believe the Carryovers were the only GT350s to have an axle tag of C5ZX-B. The 1965 and later 1966 GT 350s received different axle tags. While installing the drum brakes, I had the differential checked out and new rear axle bearings and seals installed.
The transmission has an aluminum case and cast iron tail shaft. The date code of 12-65 is too late for this tranny to be the one delivered with the car. But it is a T-10 with an aluminum case and stock shifter.
Pictures of how the pan hard or rear sway bar is installed. It is welded to the frame and axle housing.

I have thought for a long time that the 65 GT350 along with the carryover cars with the C5ZX-B tag signified when SA was able to save labor and got Ford to install the Detroit lockers instead of SA having to do it. Before the GT350 had the typical Mustang tag and SA changed out the Detroit locker at SA.
Amazing car, I really wish she was in my budget...
Beatuful car. Best of luck in your sale
I'm not sure why but I'm not able to view any of the pictures you have posted. We own Carryover #200 and I'd like to see some of the pics of your car. I have the 2019 edition of the 66 Registry and your car is an interesting read. I'm not sure how the private message thing works on this forum so if you could email dan@danbkiehl.com with those pictures, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Looks like it's missing a Screw from the Speaker Grill. Very Nice Cat though.
It looks like the Carry Over Cars kept the 65 Dash Pad. Switching Tachs, how was the Pod removed? was their a lot of clean up on the Dash Pad, was their any Sun Fade on the Dash Pad between where the Pod was mounted and the rest of the Pad?
The 65 tach/oil pressure gauge pod was never added to the carryovers. A lot of great information here: https://carryovergt350.com/ (https://carryovergt350.com/)

+1 . The carry over cars were converted from the base Mustang with the intention of being a 66 model.
Amazing car! I'll just admire it from here... 😎
