All, silly question for many, but did Kelsey Hayes front disc brakes come on factory K code, factory GT mustangs in 1965 or only GT350? Thanks in advance....
Scott
The GT350 front brakes were the same ones that were an option on the Mustang. The proportioning valve was adjusted differently to work with the bigger rear station wagon brakes.
So, standard on GT350... option on Kcode/GT.. is that correct to say?

If the Kcode/GT had front disc brakes the rotors and calipers were the same as GT350.

Actually, it is a bit the other way around:
all GT350's were based on a Mustang with K-Code, and GT options and then with "Shelby" specified additions or deletions - this was all done on "paper" first then on to production at Ford (San Jose) then shipped to Shelby for completion to the final product as a Shelby GT350.
You may want to consider getting one of these...

If
ANY 65/6 Mustang was ordered with disc brakes they were the same as the GT350. The GT package (on A,C,D+K codes) included the disc brake option. You can have a non-GT K with drum brakes if they didn't want to spend the money.
Front Disc Brakes1965 was the first year that the Mustang offered front disc brakes. Adding disc brakes was a option and cost an extra $58.
NOTE: They were only available on V8 (5 lug) cars.
Any V8 Mustang for '65 could be ordered with disc brakes once it became an option in early '65 production. The only configuration that disc brakes were included was the Mustang GT package. For non-GT K codes, disc brakes were an option, drum brakes on all 4 corners standard. For '65 GT350, based on a non-GT K code, it was a line/add item on the DSO sheet.
So for those 65 GT (disc was included) or non GT (buyer could order) were they Kelsey Hayes?

Yes typically Kelsey Hays.

Don't forget some dealers and owners were dressing up their Mustangs adding GT dress up pieces
GT EQUIPMENT GROUP
a. Increased rate front and rear springs
b. Larger front and rear shock absorbers
c. Quicker steering ratio of 22:1
d. Larger diameter front stabilizer bar
- Front disc brakes
- Fog lamps and grill bar
- The quicker ratio steering box that was used on GT's will have a code of either HCC-AX or HCC-AW. (HCC-AW is a power steering box.)
- Five gauge instrument cluster in 1965; standard on all Mustangs in 1966
- Dual exhaust with chrome trumpets through the rear valance
- A must option of either the A-code (225 HP Challenger 289 4V) or the K-code (271 HP High Performance 289 4V) engine
- Standard gas cap in 1965 and GT gas cap in 1966
Ford dealers sold the fog lights, GT badges, deluxe steering wheels, letters and stripe kits as separate dealer installed options and these could be added to any Mustang.

D and C code Mustangs were not eligible for the GT Equipment Group factory option in 65 or 66.

Yep - I was going from memory that it required 5 lug. I was even iffy at the time if the D production was still around when the GT package was introduced.
This is how I should have phrased it.
