Title: Console lid repair
Post by: Thanx2cs on October 20, 2024, 03:06:16 PM
One of my projects this winter is to have my console lid repaired.  The threads have given way and needs to be resewn.  Anything I or the upholstery shop should know?
Thanks

Just completed this project after checking with a number of places many refused to work on it due to concerns of disintegrating vinyl or foam materials. In any event, there's two options for your upholster — blind stitch with curved needle to gather French double stitching. There's plenty of videos that show how this is done and fairly common in auto seat repair. The other option is to carefully remove the lid from the console and have the upholsterer sew it from behind.
