If anybody is looking for rooms at the Hampton Inn, I just wanted to let everybody know that today I cancelled three reservations for the headquarters hotel. We're still coming, but a bunch of friends are not

Don't be surprised if you call for these rooms and have to pay the going rate since it's past the deadline for the SAAC discount block of rooms.

That is unfortunately correct. The Corporate Reservation system that blocks rooms had an expiration date for the discount.

Sometimes hotels will let you change the name on your reservation.
Example you made a reservation you can't keep. You contact the hotel and say Joe Whoever will be using the room. When he arrives he checks in with your confirmation number and his credit card. It does require a little trust because if he doesn't show up you get dinged for the 1 night guarantee.
