Title: 66 shelby rear axle bearing question please
Post by: shelbyhertz66 on April 12, 2024, 01:18:57 PM
Hi all,
I was wanting to replace my axle bearings and where am I wrong?
I ordered skf bearing RW 207 CCRA which is supposed to be correct but the I.D. of
the bearing is 1.377 and the axle diameter where it is pressed on is 1.365 obliviously
not going to press on.  could anyone suggest a brand or know what part I need?
The axle seal seems to be the correct size and I think it will seal , just completely
confused , any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is the correct bearing. It is listed as 1.378" ID. The axles I have measure 1.380"and 1.381" where the bearing is pressed on. The 1.365" is where the seal rides not the bearing. They are a stepped axle.

Hey thank you very much, With the bearing still installed I did not
realize that the axle diameter is stepped larger where the bearing locates.
that would explain it.
