I have a set of Autolite red vented battery caps. Given to me many years ago but I never used them. I have a 68 Gt500, are they correct for this car?

There are different ones and without knowing which ones you have makes it hard to say for sure. Go to any vendor ad for the Autolite repro battery and you will see the exact ones you need. If you are buying a repro battery they come with it. The are exact for your 68 needs.If they look different then the 68 and 69 ones used on the repro battery you may want to post a picture so that you know what application they are for.
