I pulled the original rollbar out of a series 1800 serial number car and it looks like it was an early bar that was just hacked off on the two back brace pipes. I dont recall how late the 4 point bars were used but Im guessing they made a bunch and when they quit making them 4 pointers they hacked them off. all the NOS bars Ive had were not like this

Yep seen that quite a few times .Typically in early cars after SA stopped the 6 point bar (Two at the floor ,two at the wheelhouse and two in the ceiling). Yes it is a early bar frame that they used to dip . That would be the latest one I have ever seen. Maybe it had been replaced before. I have seen that done to replace ones that had the foam damaged from fire extinguishers etc. I did that to #0008 when I bought it to get the removable roll bar cover bare bar and cover. I found one of those dipped bars with the legs cut off and welded some legs back on it and it was all good. If not a replacement then it is a anomaly.

The roll bars must have be a serviceable part at some time? What would you get through Ford parts? A '68 version of the bar? Would a later '67 bar be the same as a '68 bar? They look the same to me.
I would think that the early '67 bar that Jim is holding would be worth gold to someone restoring a basketcase early '67?
1067 and 1968 bars are different
The retractor mounts and mounting ears are different
another "stubbed" 6-point '67 roll bar...

Original owner car. I was the first person to pull it apart, I spent about 3 Hrs carefully taking it out of the car
Well, somebody will ask: No, nobody we know of can redip the rollbars. If I am wrong about that, post it here on the forum.
Car built originally with the "six" point bars will have 4 holes drilled in the wheel house. Right where the cut off bar points to.
For the '68s, how much of the interior had to be removed at Smith for the rollbar install?
Did they just pull back the carpet/padding and weld?
This was undoubtedly covered on the old site, but I didn't see it.

To get to the roll bar, you would need to remove the folding seat, upper interior panels and lower interior panels
