Title: Rear axle dilema
Post by: Peter L. on November 06, 2023, 08:35:31 AM
Good morning all. I'm a  little confused as to what rear carrier and gear ratio came in my KR.
The door tag shows a '7' axle code which according to the '68 service manual decodes as a 3.25 open differential. However on the Coralsnake webpage it shows axle code '7' as a 3.00 traction-lok. The car is a 4-speed with A/C. The code on the build sheet is 4001M, which according to the chart on Pete's sight is the 3.00 traction-lok.
I thought numerical codes always denoted an open carrier and letter codes were for the traction-lok.
Need some help on this one.
            Thanks, Pete.

Shelby codes are different than the Ford codes. You should have a 3.00 traction lok

All of that information is from Ford buildsheets
