Title: Original Holley 3259
Post by: cob4ra on October 27, 2023, 12:46:02 PM
I'm listing this original slightly used 3259 ,715cfm Holley that was used for a short time while the 600 cfm was restored on SFM6S852 , original tags and box for 1150 . This isn't a later Branda

Does the 4 digit date code indicate it could be 1976,1986,1996 ETC? Aren't the later reissue carb not unlike the ones that have been sold by Branda and others for decades? Isn't the 3 digit date code marked carbs the ones that were made in the 60's? Don't the later reissue carbs have differences compared to the ones used from the factory on the production cars?

is that a fuel pressure gauge in the secondary bowl? Thought 3259-1 were used in the 66 cars. 3259 and 3259-1 are very different in design and cost.

When did the S2MS 3259 carbs become available? Were they not a production line carb? Also agree with a 3 digit date code for original carbs.

Doesn't the paper tag say 1987?
Isn't this info from the Holley website?
Holley used a three digit up to 1973, after which they moved to the four digit code you see here. Decoding them is as follows:
Three Digit - Example 763 > 7 - Year (1967) , 6 - Month (June) , 3 - (Third Week)
Four Digit - Example 0798 > 079- Day of Year (would land in March) , 8 - 1978/1988/1998/2008

Hasn't Branda and others been selling the Holley reissue carbs since the late 70's ?  ;)
