Title: 6S1530
Post by: Snakebite on August 09, 2023, 12:17:46 PM
I see that this car is for sale in California.  I don't own a current Shelby Registry.  Does anyone have any information on this car?  Thanks in advance.

Sold privately about a year ago to current seller.

It has been on ebay for a while now - https://www.ebay.com/itm/225710673204?hash=item348d678d34:g:MF4AAOSwql5kTgrR&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4Kq9P0eF5IwxoRDeKs0qzgC%2FLcoxFZyTRv5F5hehPp4DOP4mjXVRW0VFetBPiZ3yN%2FXT%2FdiiSOxAMZJ7XW4J7IvUIX6ZstNtGwpGQlL2Xi6nJiCrmGsNhpkoPWt4pPhuL%2BdoGPahR9LnzUeHhG3YKldmqKDZ%2BV79di2VtrLEYFHYBx6Zxx3dNuSIiuIMAkSvg9bsSlSH1yx2%2BJJg3X5sDhRRcHT%2BFFTAGBMW0pHE4NventsGJ5p8qWWdv7Kcz%2BSF%2FNFbV0tL2v%2BkdRskcK%2F0OvEFfJUI%2B25c3mBbNpDpuL08%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_rYvLK7Yg (https://www.ebay.com/itm/225710673204?hash=item348d678d34:g:MF4AAOSwql5kTgrR&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4Kq9P0eF5IwxoRDeKs0qzgC%2FLcoxFZyTRv5F5hehPp4DOP4mjXVRW0VFetBPiZ3yN%2FXT%2FdiiSOxAMZJ7XW4J7IvUIX6ZstNtGwpGQlL2Xi6nJiCrmGsNhpkoPWt4pPhuL%2BdoGPahR9LnzUeHhG3YKldmqKDZ%2BV79di2VtrLEYFHYBx6Zxx3dNuSIiuIMAkSvg9bsSlSH1yx2%2BJJg3X5sDhRRcHT%2BFFTAGBMW0pHE4NventsGJ5p8qWWdv7Kcz%2BSF%2FNFbV0tL2v%2BkdRskcK%2F0OvEFfJUI%2B25c3mBbNpDpuL08%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_rYvLK7Yg)

Great looking GT350.  Love the color, wheels, stripes, etc.  Curious about the top surface of the inner fender near the right side hood hinge (might be my bad eyesight).

Noticed the area on the inner fender near the right hood hinge as well.  Per the seller the car was in an accident sometime between 1966 and 1970 and the radiator support and hood were replaced.  Wonder how hard the car was hit and if this is damage from that accident.  Will follow up with the seller on that.  As always, would appreciate any other information or comments that anyone has on this car.

According to my 1997 Registry, it was re-bodied.  Lawsuits were filed and won.  Says there are two titled with 6S1530 and until that is settled, owners won't be listed.

Your eyesight appears spot on to me, fender in that area definitely looks mangled. Among other things, the VIN tag is an obvious repop.

Oddly the 2011 and 2019 Registries don't mention anything about the rebody shenanigans or lawsuit described in the 1997 Registry.

Maybe it has been resolved. A call to Howard might shed some light on it.
You also run into the possibility of getting sued for calling someone's car a rebody/fake without a personal inspection. Message the seller and ask if he has a SAAC letter that confirms the Ford serial number matches the SA VIN. In the end I suspect that selling after a short ownership may mean the current owner has discovered something and is trying to cut his losses.
