Title: 1964-1970 Mustang Horns Differences?
Post by: Kent on July 10, 2023, 02:03:38 AM
is there maybe a good thread or something what the differences are on the Mustang Horns? I know 69/70 had a different bracket. But 64-68 is not really clear for me. Any help is appreciated.

Can someone help me? I just want to divide the differences in the horns over the years. I think the bracket and also how its mounted on the horn are the major differences I can see.

Yes there are many bracket configurations. Some years the horns are specific to AC cars

yes that are the ones with the 2 hooks instead of 1 hook on the non ac. But how the brackets are mounted is also different I will post some pictures what I mean.

That really helped thanks to all, I didn't knew that Marcus made a pdf about the horns also. But its just for 69/70 is there some more information about the 67/68?

I did some pictures of some 67/68 Horns now, and there are some I´m not sure wat they are for? Maybe we can work it out here.

Can someone maybe check the pictures? Some are obviously 67/68 but on some horns the brackets are in different positions. The one on the right side with the AC Mustang 67/68 bracket is something I know. The normal ones also. But there are some brackets I´m not sure with. Thank you.

Kent,

Unfortunately, I can tell you nothing about horn differences over the years.  But I can tell you that the 64.5 horns are very different from any other year.  They are mounted in the engine compartment on top of the 45 degree frame rails adjacent to the fan.

Does someone here can see the differences between all the horns on my pictures and tell me what they are for, I was able to identify some but some are a mystery to me.

I just marked the ones on the pictures and the ones in the first picture are also ones that I dont know what they are for.

The ones you have circled are not correct for 1967 - 68 Mustang or Cougar. I don't know what the specific application is but some other Ford or Lincoln Mercury product from the era.

The 2 circled together don't look like a matched pair.  The one without paint looks like a 65, but it's hard to tell because the circle goes right over the mounting  bracket.

I believe 65s were the only ones to use the depressed circle as a key to locate them. 66 went to the bent finger.

Any dates stamped inside the openings?

In the beginning of the thread are the pictures without the circles maybe you can see it better there. The other 2 in the other picture below are not identified at the moment also. They could work on a 69 Mustang but they have a different bend of the bracket.
