Title: Power steering pump
Post by: Rex on March 27, 2023, 08:53:13 PM
Question for the class; if the power steering pump on a 67 GT500 is over full, will it push fluid out? I have a little weepage  in the tray straight down from the pump and it is over full.

Yes depending on how over full it is. Use a turkey baster to suck the excess out.

Its a closed system under pressure. The fluid expands when hot. The only place it can go is out the pump filler and it will likely squirt out like a volcano. You might want to open up a hose connection to drain some out

Note to self..... if you do use the turkey baster, which certainly does work..... don't forget to tell you wife PRIOR to Thanksgiving. Dark brown, shiny turkeys do look great, but can tend to have a funny, petroleum after taste.
