Title: C6ME-A engine block inside the middle core plugs question?
Post by: Kyle on September 01, 2022, 11:02:05 AM
I have a C6ME-A 428 engine block and I found two pins on the the RH side middle core plug and the LH side middle core plug.

What are these for?
Anyone knows please?
Here are two pictures:

Thanks Kyle.

Those are found in several locations and in other block castings as they are fixturing for holding the casting boxes together and become trapped in the pouring where they are then abandoned.   :)

 Thanks Scott.

These are normally cracked with rust?
If I remove them it is not a problem?

note , when you go to put the freeze plugs back in  the correct size for the FE freeze plug is 1 49/64"
most people use 1 3/4" because they are easier to find.
I have heard of some people having 1 3/4" plugs popping out under stress
