Title: List 3259 65 GT350 Carb fitting
Post by: mygt350 on August 07, 2022, 06:13:29 PM
I am in need of a fuel line fitting for a 65 GT350 List 3259 carb. It's the brass 1/8NPT to 7/16 fitting on pass side of primary float bowl. 1/8npt is male and 7/16 is female.
Thanks
Martin

Nope. I need 1/8NPT male that screws into the bowl with 7/16 female flare at other end for the hard line.

Most hardware stores probably carry a modern replacement and some auto parts stores might also.  If you want a 1960s part in decent to great condition some of the mechanical fuel pumps Ford used for years also used the same part.

That is for 66 to adapt the fuel filter which is mounted on the carb. OP is working on a 65 which has the filter integral to the fuel pump. He needs the brass adapter that goes from the fuel line flair to the fine Holley bowl threads.

66 had fuel filter that used the 1/8 to 1/8NPT brass adapter. The 65 had the filter in the fuel pump like the "button Top" 3939S. That version of the List 3259 carb used a 1/8NPT to 7/16 flair fitting to screw into pass side primary fuel bowl and connect the 7/16 hard line.

+1

A common 1960s Ford part used with fuel pumps as stated before and 1965 GT350 carburetors.   I have no idea where the reported 7/16" (0.4375") dimension might be. The new old stock 1965 GT350 fuel pump to carburetor line assembly I kept for decades waiting a worthy cause I sent  to Charles for SFM5S003 was 5/16 tube.

The current Parker® part seems to be: Brass Inverted Flare Fittings | #48IFHD-5-2
Parker ones are available on Amazon® and eBay® sites, I just looked them up.

I kept this new old stock assembly safe for decades before finding a home with SFM5S003.

Dan, you are so right. The tube I have is .312 OD (5/16") with 1/2 wrench flare fitting. I must have misread and thought 7/16", but tube OD is actually 5/16" with 1/2" wrench.

There is no telling how many I have tossed in the trash over the years.

Its just not something that really wears out. I am putting a carb together and it was missing that fitting. Believe originals had a stamp or some sore of etching on one of the wrench flats. But unless Bob G is looking, I can live without the lettering, if I must...

I do not recall maker marks on the carburetor fitting. It seems that the fittings for the 1960s fuel pumps were made by at least three different suppliers with Weatherhead® being one brand. Some had no maker's marks in the 1960s. Eaton® owns the Weatherhead brand now and new parts from Eaton usually have Eaton's identification on them.  One of the ones in my picture has logos for both Weatherhead and Underwriters Laboratories®.

I may well be mistaken on the makers mark as its been really long time since I have laid eyes on a original and my memory is in same place as that special bolt I put up so I would not lose it...

I think it has a W circled and some weird design.
Few would look close enough. I was hesitant to post my link as it isn't "correct"

Sometimes you just need to connect two parts

If I'm not mistaken, two of this same adapter(or a variation of it) are used in the lower tank of the radiator to accept the transmission cooling lines from the C4....only it's made of steel, not brass.

I just confirmed that it will work. I had a 64.5/65 Carter clamshell fuel pump and low and behold it had a fitting in it still. No markings on the fitting to report but I was able to compare with success that it will work as needed.
