Since the car livery was changed to copy P\1046 for the tour back in 1966, when it was restored to current livery,
did they recreate the "damage" by jamming the door again??

Thank you very very much for posting that link. I had a ride in that car at Indianapolis Raceway Park at SAAC whenever in 1994 I believe it was. That set me and my father on a quest to get the red Hertz that remains in my garage to this day. Great times. I think Brian Mimacke (sp) owned the car at the time. He gave me and then my father a ride in the Miles GT40 on the track. Very memorable!

I have always suspected that when jumping in the car a hand was placed on the flange and it bent it down a little causing the problem.
