Did GT500 production stop when KR production started or did they continue to make both?

It did, but there were still cars in the pipeline so they got mixed in with the KRs. There is no clear cut off date.

Pete, my 2766, a 500, has KR's of a lower number. Can you postulate if this would be one of the leftovers, or more simple random numbering as was done? I have previously wondered. Thanks.

Well I probably depends on when the numbers were assigned. Cars that arrived from Ford could have sat outside for days or weeks. The first regular KR was 2263 if I recall correctly and about 40 cars a day were built.
