Title: replacement leather gas cap seal
Post by: poboy427 on June 01, 2022, 09:52:32 AM
In need of a replacement leather gas cap seal similar to original. All I see now available is rubber, touting made in USA and just like original...sorta kinda.

Are these available currently in leather or do I have to trace one out and DIY?

Thx Ray

It would most likely be a DIY item, or find an original cap with a good seal, or maybe a blem'd replacement one.

How will you install without disassembling the cap?

Charles,   Plan to experiment but thought about wetting a new one to stretch it on and then let dry out to contract in place.

I made one out of cork gasket stock when rebuilding my OE cap, working really well...
