Title: Hullabaloo Magazine October 1966
Post by: s2ms on May 01, 2022, 02:22:27 PM
Recently picked this up, Hullabaloo Magazine inaugural issue, October 1966, Vol 1, No 1. Lots of cool pop and rock music stuff, but what caught my eye was the article on pages 28-31, I had not seen this one before...

Nice find. I guess.

I wonder what editorial pitch went into running a four page story, which is a lot of space in the "An American Pop Magazine." I presume the readership age would be 12-18, who weren't likely to be interested in reading about cars, unless it was owned by a Rolling Stone.

Copy is pr boilerplate, so there's no real writing involved. The art director got handed the photos and copy and he just laid it out. Just another example of Shelby brand promotion by non enthusiasts just doing their jobs, most of whom probably rode the subway to work.

Nice find.
+1 on marketing copy.  "Next month we test the NEW Schwinn's!".
George looks like he's sucking on a Jolly Rancher.

I've got some 1960's era "Gentleman's" magazines with old car ads in them.

The last photo of the car on track, isn't that 5R094 at Sebring in 1966 ?
