So the 1970 battery apron has been the service part for 69-70 Mustangs for as long as I remember even carrying a stenciled C9 part number. So was the 1970 style with the revamped apron with the screw hole for the battery tie down bracket ever used on 69s? Late in production? I know my May 6 built car doesn't have one(original apron) and I don't recall my June built GT500 having one either. Thanks.

I haven't found any on later Shelby's ether . Hopefully ED will chime in.
I have seen very late built 69 with the side battery L bracket screw hole. A true 70 battery apron Dozb has a hump where the battery L bracket screw goes & (most people missed this since battery hides the area only a hawkeye would see it) but down along the front apron where it spotwelds to the rad support has a hump inward where as 69 is straight down to battery tray area. 69 vs 70 front grill area is totally different when ford changed from 69 4 headlights to 70 2 headlights systems the headlight area i different. The 70 apron added inward hump was there for a clearance when installing the bigger 70 diameter headlight and they were moved inward toward the grill and the 70 rad support was different also because of this new 70 single headlight setup.

Thanks. The reason I ask is because I see so many 69s with the 70 "hump" apron. I remember over 30 years ago going to buy a battery apron from NPD. It had a C9ZZ part number but was a 70 hump apron. The clueless counter guy argued that it was a 69 because of the C9ZZ. I didn't buy it. Fixed the old one.

Yes but that done mean it could have been on a very late 69 as we had a late 69 b9 all original low mile that had 70 doors and hood for factory so u never know how parts were put in inventory when a new year model car changeover was done at the plant.
Ed does late 69 include late production 69 Shelby given the Shelby program was closing down and their production ended earlier then regular Mustang and they were trying to get unsold 69 Shelbys converted to 70's ?

When was the last Shelby put through Dearborn as opposed to the last 69 Mustang? I figure a June built GT500 should not have the 70 apron, right?
