Title: Tilt Away problem 1968 GT350
Post by: mustangman-nl on May 10, 2018, 10:59:51 AM
Hello,

After the winter storage my tit away steering wheel is not working anymore :( . The motor starts with open drivers door, before I had to close the door (so the tilt away switch closed) and then I could start the engine. Were to start the trouble search to get the tilt away let work again :D?
Thanks for your help!

Regards Reiny (the Netherlands)

I recommend hunting down a copy of the tilt steering maintenance booklet. It is not very easy to diagnose these problems unless you are standing by the car.

I also think you should check for vacuum under the dash as a place to start.

Do you hear the tilt switch clicking under the dash when the door is opened/closed (push the switch button in/out in the door jamb).

The won't start with door open will only come into play if fly away is active (wheel tilted to right) Is that happening or does it just start with door open with fly away in locked? As Pete said hard to diagnose from afar but they are fairly simple to chase if you are familiar with operation
