Title: Convertible header bow repair
Post by: hurlbird on December 29, 2021, 05:52:04 PM
pulled back the top and the ends are decaying. Looks like POR 15 and some bondo could do the trick. Anyone ever successfully repaired one? if so how? thanks.

yes... they get pitted /deteriorated pretty bad. I just bead blasted mine and applied plastic, primed with epoxy.

thanks. i need to replace my tack strip. If you replaced yours how did you get it over the studs? (punch hole? slice and slide over?) and did you use an epoxy to hold it in pace?

The tack strip on the header bow would be pop riveted in.

The old rivets are quite large "studs". Keep them or grind them away?

The old rivets have to be drilled out.
