Its not a factory stamping. Has the block had machine work?

What is the date code of the block?

Date code is 8M6 which seems too late for a KR.

No KRs were built after July 1968. Therefore this could not be an original KR block.

Thanks. I know of someone who has a 69 Mach 1 built in July 68 so I was assuming it was not a KR block. Really scary part is he wants $11,500 for it.... :o

stamped # - Done I suspect by the guy who dropped it off at the machine shop so he was sure he got his same block back.
6 = 1966
Z = St Louis assembly plant
47 = Fairlane 500
M = Not used for 66 Fairlane - big blocks were R = 427 2-4V - S = 390 4V GT - H = 390 2V
I wonder if he had dreams of building a cammer as that was an M in 1965.
