 Should the center recessed area be painted Black?

If you're asking about the bottom side of the hood the black and exterior color transition on the outer surface of the hood reinforcement rails/ribs around the perimeter. Black and body color were applied before the grills and epoxy installation/application. The transition from one color to the other created a somewhat soft edge often with "blow outs" where the tape was not pushed into the corners and details in the rail

Another question, is the center scoop opening that leads to the air filter on top of hood painted black?
