Title: Cobra(s) in Viva Las Vegas
Post by: 8T03S1425 on August 10, 2021, 12:10:03 PM
"Viva Las Vegas" is one of my favorite movies. I'm an Elvis fan, an Ann Margaret fan, a fan of the song "Viva Las Vegas", and a Cobra fan. That movie presses all the buttons. I just noticed that there may have been two 2000 series Cobras in the movie, a white one and a red one. I couldn't get a good screen shot of the white Cobra but was able to get one of the red Cobra. What Cobras were used in the movie?

That video clip of #98 doesn't look like a "Sebring" USRRC car, that appears to have "street" wheel flairs and comp cars didn't have bumper guard / grill guard.

just my novice observation, IMHO

Spinout had the earliest Cobra "replica" - they even still think it's a real Cobra in Mississippi https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Hollywood_Memorabilia_Exhibit_at_Hollywood_Casino_Tunica_MS_25.jpg

Elvis must have had trouble driving - he also put a Daytona coupe in a ditch.

The red 289 Cobra used in Viva Las Vegas was CSX2019. It later became the first factory Dragonsnake.

I just listed in the for sale section the factory hardtop removed from CSX2019 before it was converted to the first dragon snake.

The white car in Viva Las Vegas is believed to be CSX2024.

Another white car, CSX2038, was also used in the movie. It is believed it wore the number 96 in the film.

Hey. Don't pick on folks from Mississippi. They are almost of average IQ.

a gentleman in Ohio claims to have the white one from the movie.  Says he has the documentation.  Not sure if its true.  I've seen the car a few times.

Found this article on the cars. I had thought a lot of the regular owner/drivers of the cars would have done the movie work but it looks like it was all stunt driver. It mentions Max was paid to baby sit Old Yeller but not for driving.
