Title: 67 Door Panel Removal Tool
Post by: texas swede on April 12, 2018, 09:39:43 AM
Good morning guys,
In order to fix a passenger side window problem, it won't move,
I must remove the De Luxe Door Panel on my 67 Shelby and don't know
which tool to use. Need suggestions how to get the clips unplugged
as well as removing the plug covering the door handle screw. This without
harming the door panel.
Thanks,
Texas Swede

you might try going to harbor freight and getting a set of their door panel tools. they are plastic and work good for not chewing up everything. for the plug, try warming it up with a heat gun first, for location of clips, find an old 67 door panel and match up. phred

don't forget the two screws in the bottom of the arm rest finger pocket, they should be covered up by a rectangular piece of rubber.

Dental pick works well for the two plugs and the rubber cover at the bottom of the finger grab.  They sell small sets of 4 with orange handles at Harbor Freight.

See attached, back of passenger door panel.

See the red arrow, every one of those similar slots around the perimeter has a metal clip in it.  Note the other row is the aluminum insert tabs bent over to hold the insert to the door panel.

Picks are in the foreground.

Hope this helps...

I would also suggest ordering the proper clips and have them on hand for when you want to reinstall the panel.  Inevitably, one of the clips will get distorted and it's easier just to swap it out.
