Title: 67' GT 500 owners need to fess up
Post by: roddster on December 06, 2020, 11:17:28 AM
Recall the thread a couple of months back about somebody needing a 67 GT 500 for display?   So, it seems Fomoco had four diffent track days for new GT 500 owners (and others) and at these track events they also displayed a 67 GT 500.
One track event was in Charlotte NC (I think) and they displayed a brittany blue GT 500.
In my neighborhood, this event was held at the Autobahn Country Club, out side of Joliet IL.
There were two other track events.
So, I don't know if they used the same car, or, did they find one locally near each track event.
Just want to know who's car they were, car numbers, and a little info on the experience.

The director of the Mustang Museum in Charlotte called me up one day saying they needed a '67 GT500 for a display at the track and asked if I could find them someone.  I asked what color they preferred as I knew quite a few owners who were willing to help.  We ended up asking a great Shelby owner in the area named Mike Rodgers.  Mike has an impressive collection of Shelby/Ford vehicles as well as an amazing collection of rare Datsun 240 Z cars among other sports cars.   His Brittany Blue GT500 is really sweet and looked amazing at the event.

Ford had a different '67 GT500 at the Autobahn - Joliet, IL location in July. It was  Brittany Blue, but without the, non factory, top stripes.

I believe there were several dates for the Charlotte, NC gatherings for the "Track Attack" days.
I can only guess they used the Roger's '67 GT500 on all those dates, but don't know that for certain.

Roddster,
Where and when were the other events with the '67 GT500 on display?

There was also a gathering in Las Vegas late October 2019 with a '67 GT500 in Lime Gold.
This might have been the first event ??

The article in the MCA "Mustang Times" really didn't say the dates, other than it was this fall.

OK, two cars have been identified, and their car numbers are?
