Title: Is my gas cap correct?
Post by: Jack4159 on November 29, 2020, 06:40:34 AM
For a GT500KR?
I have cap C7ZA-9A112-B and LID C7ZA-9A107-B(which someone has kindly ground down the raised section so the could use a separate locking cap in the filler pipe).
Are these OK/correct for a KR?
I did some looking on line and am unclear on whether this is OK or if it should have deluxe cap C7ZZ-903-WOE.
Thanks all.

You are missing a lot of pieces and the lid should have a spring with a sealing ring/plate. Your lid is broken. The center has a boss for a screw that holds the sealing plate. It is under a cap that is pressed in to the lid.

Both the base and lid should be marked "Autolite"

This is much like the mirror, it can be taken apart. But, there is a learning curve, doing a single piece usually is not cost effective to restore. The reproduction is fairly good.

Dont pay more that $300 for one. The service parts are not identical. They do not say Autolite on them.  So a reproduction is probably a better value.

Thanks once again Pete.
Both pieces are marked autolite, but someone ground away the centre boss piece and threw away the spring etc so they could fit a (made in Hong Kong) large locking cap underneath....go figure....
Appreciate your help, I'm pretty much on the car full time so hope to be done in 12 months, hence so many questions.
