Post by: proford1 on September 06, 2020, 02:20:06 PM
my cars DSO is 8D2975  "Home office Reserve ordering district under Domestic Special order number 2968" any clue what all that means?

The DSO order numbers start at "2500"

Cars built on the same Domestic Special Order share similar features, like bodystyle, engine and transmission options.

The DSO on the door tag should match the build sheet and Marti report.

DSO 84 covers a lot of territory - it could have been ordered for any number of reasons and the actual reason will always be listed on the Marti Report. Like this one:

Or this one - it has "Factory Show Unit" on the Marti Report:

By the way I am assuming that your message contains at least two typos - the DSO is likely 84XXXX and the special order number - as Pete said - should both be the same XXXX four digit number.

I think the waters are being muddied a bit...

Unlike other cars, a Shelby DSO has nothing to do with where the car was intended to go. Cars were ordered by Shelby, then assigned to dealers.

Do your DSO numbers match?

As per the 2020 1968 Shelby World Registry, all 1968 Shelby's have a six-digit DSO starting with 8D. The four digit number signifies the the batches of cars being built as parts were available. That's the short answer. The registry gets more detailed. If you own a 68 Shelby, buy the World Registry. It's money well spent.

I think the same guy that wrote that is participating in this thread.  ;)

After looking at his Marti Report, it looks like his report (DSO code) has a typo .

Agree! Time to call Kevin and get a new Marti Report. Sorry I forgot it was a Shelby and 8D is correct. 84 would be Home Office Reserve.
