Title: Trunk springs - will fastback springs work on convertible ?
Post by: nvr-enuf on July 26, 2020, 04:50:48 PM
Recent car purchase did not have springs on deck / trunk lid
I ended up with a repo fatback lid with springs/ hinges
Does anyone know if the fastback deck lid springs will work on convertible?
Thanks
Sas

Since this is the 68 section the convertible uses the long dual arm style of springs for the trunk lid while the trunk uses the coil spring  not sure if the fastback springs would be strong enough to open the larger trunk.  Never thought to try it.

Thanks - would any one be able to post a couple pictures of a 68 convertible deck lid / trunk lid torsion bars / what provides the spring to open the lid.   Also I assume the springs should be painted same color as car
Thanks
Scott

Yes installed prior to the car being painted. Not the insulator - it was added later
