Photo taken at the 1967 Autorama World of Wheels show in New York.

Found it at this website:

That vintage Lucas Square 8 advertisement that I posted earlier in this thread is from the August 1970 issue of Car Life magazine.

^^^ I will dig up the publication it came out of and report back.

Here is a marked up photo of the front and back of a take off lens that I think was original to an XR7-G I had.

I'm not sure what this was used on (Calif specials?) but it is a circa 68 also but the clear ENGLAND lens. I bought this one for the early housing.

I believe that is what is often referred to as the "Spot Lense" or "Long Range" version.

See the lower right hand corner of the vintage ad that I posted earlier.

^^^ as Pete said - but FWIW the covers used rubber straps.

Very, very difficult to get the straps around the lights when installed in the G front valance.

Smith Also installed those lights on XR7-G Cougars  ;)

Here is a vintage ad - scanned and cleaned up by me from my stash of vintage magazines and racing programs.

To be fair, the vintage illustrations of the day weren't 100% accurate either.

That's very very sad news - big loss for our hobby.

My heart goes out to his family.

Just when you thought you'd heard it all - Shelby American issued a new serial plate to update a Cobra from a 1966 to a 1967?

Would love to hear more about that!

Great update Pete (as usual).

Not sure if I understand. Kurt approached them and the College decided it could sell him the car. Kurt has since passed away.

Just how a college is able to decide that a car that was supposed to never have been sold to the public ends up being sold to the public - and thank God they could/did!

Fascinating part of the story, to me at least...

Once restored can it be registered and driven on the street?

so, lots of questions - I guess some of which will be revealed hopefully.

I assume Mr. Knoll is a "public" figure who ended up owning this car?  ;D

^^^ yes - when and how did the school get rid of it, etc.

- Phillip

ohhh, this is one of those cars donated to the school -

So, is the 390 still in this car? I assume someone (Smith?) did yank them and put in 428s before they were sold to the public?

I do wish they would video document and share all the cool stuff they are going to find with this car!
