Do you remember when your grocery store had open bins of Brachs candy ?
I remember our food store having what seemed like a football field of these delicious confections.
You would walk around, back and forth admiring the huge sekection of loose candies.
Payment, yes payment of these delectable.....was on the honor system.
Having said that , I estimate that I personally owe Brachs Candy Company roughly about +/- $225,000
Sugar is a bad investment for the body. Average American consumes 17 teaspoons of sugar per day (71 grams for you metric types). Causes a whole host of problems including but not limited to inflammation, diabetes, cancer and so on. It is a difficult substance to resist I must admit.

If you really need that sugar fix back in the day it was all about the pixie sticks,which I am pretty sure consisted of about 95% colored sugar with the rest being artificial flavoring.You could practically feel the teeth rotting out of your head while eating them.....Ah,simpler times.

Never heard of pixie sticks in Toronto, Canada. "Feel the teeth rotting out of your head." Lol Rename them Pixie Sicks.
About the only time I use sugar is when I have coffee or tea away from home. At home I primarily use honey. I use it in my coffee, cereal and also drizzle it on my yogurt mixed with granola and sliced bananas. Much healthier. I was a sugar and butter aholic which wasn't good but sure tasted good. Whenever I cook with brown sugar I still eat a spoonful though.

Some of the reporting is sensationalism I am sure. They find a bit that has some radioactivity well that means it's all radioactive, right?
If you use a lot of sugar and cut it out completely you will be amazed at how quickly the pounds drop off.Especially if you exercise regularly.... ;)

I think it was these culprits / candy gangsters constantly stealing constantly and not paying.....
When I worked at a supermarket back in 1968/69 we would take a sample whenever we would walk by,,,every once in a while we would put a few cents in the till...good times. ;D
