On original radiator besides Fomoco embossed top , was the solder on C7Z number tag the only id or did they have a number in the side strap

I am sorry that I have to point out that you are misinformed . The SJ cars in which a 67 Shelby would start out as were supplied from the Modine plant out west designated as MO W . MO W marked radiators (top tank) had the identification tags soldered across the side strap end of the top tank. The eastern Modine plant (no MO mark on top tank) supplied the Dearborn and Metuchen plant which had the identification metal stamped into the side strap . There was only need to mark the radiators in one place not two places (top and side). The solution to a problem is if you have a 67 radiator that has the tag on top but also has the metal stamped side straps is to use your bodywork skills and make it go away. ;) The top soldered tag is the only one we expect to see in concours judging on a 67 Shelby.
No apology necessary. Thanks for straightening me out!
Also the fomoco in top tank is different design between east & west modine rads.
I assume the D2 and Y2 would be what you'd expect on a 500?

if it's a manual, no A/C - D2 early, later Y2
Manual with A/C - F2
Auto, no A/C - E2 early later Z2
Auto, with A/C - G2
Early manual. D2 is what the tag is on my vehicle.

Mine is a Y2. Late car.
