Anyone have any pics of Sexton Ford, Moline, Illinois? They sold a lot of Shelbys back in the day.

My wife and I had 0073 out for an early spring rumble...beautiful sunny Saturday am. Decided to blow some carbon off the plugs. Long descending on ramp to I-75 looked perfect to me. I was in 4th gear at pretty high RPM when I merged. I was watching my side view mirror, concerned with "blending in" with the normal traffic and didn't look far enough ahead to see the Ohio State Highway trooper, sitting in the median with his radar cooking. Needless to say, I got the ticket. While he's back at his car writing me up, my wife was kinda scolding me, etc. But much to her surprise, the trooper, after giving me the "paperwork", kneeled down at side of the Shelby and started asking..."How long have you owned it?, this is the small block, right>?, a buddy of mine..., etc." Nice visit. He obviously was a gearhead...nice visit, even though it cost me a bit.

That was a fun convention. Wife and I drove all through the night from NW Ohio with 2 full extra cans of gas in the trunk. Met a guy there that had an early black '67 like mine and we struck up a friendship. I ended up being his best man in his wedding and we're still great friends to this day. Like Rick K. said many times...the conventions start out as all about the cars, but eventually it's about the cars and the people.

Yes, cool car AND poster. Same car. I was fortunate to hitch a ride in that car with one of the Jones(?) brothers. I'll never forget it.

Thanks for sharing!  Love seeing/reading the history of the track. Mid Ohio has been my "home" track since 1968.
Really enjoyed the ads...some are pretty funny.
