I have a friend who has a dream of owning a Shelby. He has never owned one and knows nothing about them other than he really likes them. He reached out to me about one he found online at Classic Auto Mall. It is number 02678.
First off does anyone have any knowledge of this car. I have a registry and have read that but beyond the registry is there any tribal knowledge on this car?
Secondly, I am trying to decipher the buck tag and have not been able to find a decoder for the buck tags. Can anyone help?
Thank you,
Corey

Thank you Pete.
One of my knowledgeable Shelby friends looked at this car a few weeks ago. He reported to me that it has sustained a good bit of body work that included a lot of plastic filler. it appears it may have redone as a hobbyist level effort and shows it upon close inspection.
I would recommend an in person inspection by a capable expert before pulling the trigger. DO NOT buy the car based on photographs.
Excellent suggestion Mr Collins!

much appreciated.
is it my imagination or does it look to have dual quads?

Not trying to start a range war or anything like it - but the posting inserted above decoding the Buck Tag (thanks Pete!) the photo looks to be a "DU" not a "BLU" is that a variation? The last line has both a "B" and a "D", kinda looks like a "D" ??? Just asking I'm learning on these '68 Buck Tags -
Its probably "BU" the color name is always after the color code
I did the decode from memory 🤪

It looks that way?
Classic Auto Mall consigns cars and the owner sets the price.
Might be a diamond in the rough.
Your friend should have the car checked out and make an offer based on the findings if it's something he can live with.
