I looked at a perfect red 1967 XL Rcode in Scottsdale at a car show during Barrett Jackson. Certified by the Fairlane club. I may have pics. $125k

The same blue Comet sold at Bonhams this year for $80,614 all in so don't feel like you missed out too much on a flip at 135k!

Considering the rarity and condition of that car 80k was a steal. 427 cars 65-67 are incredibly low production. 67 is lowest for fairlane comet and Galaxie

The 66 is actually the lowest number at 57 for the Fairlane, they are super rare and I have been told there are only 20 left.

Yeah, I saw that a couple of weeks after the auction. Information is useful. Timely information is powerful.

There was a 67 XL "R" Code Fairlane on Facebook several days ago under the Fairlane parts and cars for sale page.  I think it was $59k.  Engine was out, looked to be original paint, which was very faded with surface rust.  Excellent interior.

Must've been a shift in the thinking because it's the opposite for the r code galaxies. 67 is the lowest production number and 66 is similar to 65. Obviously 63 and 64 there are a ton of them

$1100 option and reduced warranty to 3 months or 4,000 miles. I knew a guy who bought a factory lightweight (acid dipped by Mopar) Plymouth Belvedere with the A990 Hemi. They gave him zero warranty. He had the dealer install a radio it was after all his daily driver. He sold it after a couple years and built a Fuel Altered I crewed on in high school.

I don't think it went for $135K. When I called about it the guy told me it was already reduced and had been for sale for several months.

I am not sure if this Comet is available, the owner mentioned in this article passed away since this was published. The Comet was originally ordered by my cousin who drove it on the street and raced it at "The Grove" (Great Lakes Dragaway) it once had the dealership name lettered on the doors, if you sanded through the existing paint the lettering might still be visible.
It is sad tho see the condition of the car, I remember it when it was new.
