They have managed to make it more annoying
I used to search for things like "1968 Shelby" then they added in anything that "fits"
Now I see JC Whitney has managed to penetrate the searches and further fill the screen with useless garbage
Fees and restrictions havd made the site unbearable
It became more of a "Buy it now" site. The selling fees take a huge chunk ,then PayPal takes another bite and if you offer to pay shipping those costs keep going up.......
Makes more sense to offer parts on forums, like this. Offer a good deal and everybody wins.
They have become more annoying. If i filter a search down for one item I am looking at say "1967 shelby -fits" and switch to "1969 ford Talladega" they wipe out the search parameters and I have to start over again. I'm not interested in every model, magazine, toy car, watch whatever junk when I've already screened that stuff out.
In the last 2 weeks it doesn't work as well on my phone, Had to put the app on my phone. Not sure what they changed there

The way around this is to add "-fits" (without the quotes) to your search criteria. The dash eliminates the word fits
The "-fits" trick doesn't work on the JC Whitney crap. I does filter out a bunch of others, but not Whitney. >:(
That is my point, thank you
Ok. I found a way to block particular sellers. If you look at the left side of the screen, there are filters. Scroll all the way down and you will see a box that says "more filters", click that. A new box will open with more choices. Scroll down again and you will see "seller" click that. Click on "only show items from", then exclude and type "jcwhitney" or whoever. Click "apply" and that should take care of it.
👍🏽
Thanks for the tip. Took me a few minutes to figure out the filters were on my search page, but one I did, it worked like a charm!
Thanks KR Convertible
Thanks for the tip, it works... Dave
Glad to help.
If I was smart/devious, I should have kept my mouth shut. I probably could have scored some good deals after everyone got tired of wading through all the crap. ;)
I can't find JCWhitney's seller I.D.
Can anyone advise?
Pretty sure it's jcwhitney.
I used to sell vintage stereo equipment on ebay, and people who bought were happy and understood that electronics are old and used, they can work forever or last ah hour after you use it, nobody complained, because back they we had common sense, now on ebay, if you do not mention a scratch on the underside, they can return it. I do not use it anymore. I would suggest just do not buy or sell on it.
Just type in JCWhitney in the box next to the box that says Exclude and apply. Be sure to save the new search.
Regardless of whether you list car parts or coffee machines, Ebay seem to urge you to drop your price but they make sure they make a killing on fees.
Long live swap meets.

KR, where you finding this at? One the home page? Help & contact?.....
After you do your initial search, the listings will be in the center of the page. There will be a column to the left under the ebay logo with categories like ebay motors etc. Scroll down that column past all of the other filters until you see a box that says "more filters..". If you start to see "recently viewed items", you went too far.
jcwhitney might not be the seller's I.D.
I have tried blocking them twice now using that I.D. and my searches still come up with pages full of their product catalogue :-[

Did you save your new searches? They have been gone from my searches since excluding them. What I did was this;
opened a search
scrolled down to more filters, which opened a window
selected seller from the list
checked the box "only show items"
checked specific sellers
typed in JCWhitney in the box next to Exclude
hit Apply
saved the new search
JCWhitney is gone from search
Is this what you did?
You have to change from "include" to "exclude". It also doesn't seem to save the excluded seller from day to day, you have to redo this every time it seems.

I did not have to change from "include" to "exclude". Made the changes on March 9, along with adding -fits to my searches and have not had items that say "fits" or JCWhitney since then. Also, saved the new search with the changes.

Ah, I stopped after hitting apply, let me try again.
