Where is the Lebanon Valley drag strip and does it still exist? 8)

New York State and it appears that they still race there.

Here are some from a SAAC event. Can anyone tell me which one? I think it's Lime Rock but not sure what year.

When I purchased #2148 in October 2017 from John Barnes I also got binders full of history, photos, receipts - you name it. I am in the process of digitizing everything so I thought that I would share some pictures. Here are a few from the car's drag racing days in the 80's. ~Kevin

Thank you Bob. There is another pigtail in the same area, I'll check to see if that one has constant power.

Bill, I've offered my time and expertise on more than one occasion and for whatever reason the offer is met with silence. I have no interest in playing cop and moderating forum content, but I would be happy to offer any help I can to keep things running behind the scenes like getting the SAAC badge activated and fixing the photo attachment issue. However, I understand that to do that I would need administrator privileges so I can certainly understand if the board wants to keep a tight reign on admin access.

I thought I would add my experience to this thread as I was having problems with my right turn signal. Since I had replaced both dynamite sticks with repops a few months ago I began with the assumption that there was a bad ground. I started with the easy stuff first; the ground wire attached near the filler neck and cleaning the contacts from the dynamite sticks to the light sockets. I put a star washer on the ground point and cleaned some paint overspray and general gunk off the terminals on the connectors but still had weak/intermittent right turn signal.

Next up I removed the bezels and lenses and checked the lamp sockets and lamps. All good there so I had to figure out how to check the actual ground for the light assembly. I removed the bumperettes and rear bumper, then took off the fiberglass light panel. When I flipped it over to look at the back side the right light housing ground wire was loose as a goose because the screw had backed out. So I put a star washer under both the left and right ground screws and plugged the lights back in and everything worked properly.

I have to say, it's not the easiest grounding point to get to but I'm glad it's fixed anyway - hopefully for good!

Since I was on a roll I decided to connect the wires to the trunk lid light which were disconnected when I bought the car. I found a pigtail by the right wheel housing but it was only hot when the doors were open. That's where I connected the trunk light and it works fine, but only if the doors are open and the other interior lights are on. Is this how it's supposed to be? I don't see any place for a switch on the trunk lid.

Halsey was holding his own until Adams decided to use the whole track to put a little pressure on, launching the car off the rumble strips until he got him to drive it into the corner just a wee bit too hot. Looks like it was a lot of fun!

Wrong link? Took me to a Fair car app commercial. I watched to the end hoping for some Boss on Boss action but nope. Now that's not Fair!

1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR - Original - Numbers Matching
8T02R210987-03860

Complete Concours Restoration completed in the 1990's with inspection and assembly markings. First place show winner and registered with the Shelby American Automobile Club.

My brother bought this car on June 26th, 1969 as a left over from Jack Gibbons City Ford in Watchung, NJ and sold the car in 1974.  In 2016 I tracked the car down and purchased it back for my brother.  The car had been sitting for several years in a garage in Texas.  I had the vehicle repainted by a professional Auto Body Shop in New Jersey.  The car starts right up and runs well.  I have photographs of the restoration done in the 90s and documentation of the cars history.

Acapulco Blue
Black Interior
Four Speed
10 spoke wheels
Traction-Lok
Functioning Tilt Steering Wheel
428 Cobra Jet with Ram Air

These are only two issues I have noticed while owning the vehicle.  The transmission sometimes pops out of 2nd gear into neutral.  I do not know if this is an issue with the linkage or the transmission.  There is also a small nick in the paint on the passenger side rear quarter panel as well as a crack in the paint on the passenger side hood scoop.

The car is located in Montclair, NJ.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to make an appointment to see the vehicle.  Car must be paid for within 7 days via Certified Bank Check.  I will not release the vehicle until the check clears.

I wasn't following this one when it came to auction, but looking at the photo, any car that screams AUTHENTIC across the windshield raises a BIG red flag with me. It seems that this is another case of caveat emptor.

I also need to say that when I began my search for a 68 Shelby my first two steps were to join SAAC and this forum. Then I observed and asked questions. This forum is what united me with my car. Many people on this forum gave advice and help so I could have confidence when I pulled the trigger. I was looking for a matching numbers GT500 4-speed and I found several. Then I found the car I wanted and proceeded to research everything I could about it. Then I had to wait for it to NOT sell at auction so I could work out a deal with the owner. But it's now under my care and I couldn't be happier! It's not a GT500, it's not Highland Green, it's not a 4-speed, it doesn't have air and it doesn't have matching numbers. Heck, it doesn't even have an engine that was ever offered in a Shelby. But it's everything I ever wanted in a Shelby and it has history up the wazoo (with the documentation/trophies to prove it). The point being; because of the great folks who contribute to this forum I don't have buyers remorse. I know what I got and I know what else was out there when I bought it. I can sleep tonight. Thanks guys!

Those who purchased a Shelby primarily to make money   :(

Those who purchased a Shelby to drive the wheels off it   :)

Those who might be able to trade up or add a second (or third or fourth...) Shelby because they are more affordable   ;D

Ok, I admit it - it was me! I'm truly sorry guys. I've lived by the motto "Buy high, sell low" all of my life and ever since I bought my first classic Shelby last October the market for those cars has tanked.  :-[

I feel so bad about this. Really I do! I didn't want to admit this publicly, but I just can't live with the guilt any longer.  :'(

There is hope though! Immediately after I sell my car (in 10, 20 or 30 years) the market will explode again and these cars will be more valuable than ever. So hang on to your car and wait it out. After all, I can't live forever!
