evantugby,

Why not buy the Doug Thorley's at around $800 per set then?

You seem focused on evaluating the cost of mine and where my price point should be.

My pricing is based on what it costs me to make them.  The NRE costs, packaging costs, and production costs.  I don't track what other headers cost or evaluate mine against what else might be available.  I evaluate mine against known original assembly line parts only.  I know there are cheaper options.  I looked some up for you and made a couple of suggestions to you.

Scott

Scott,
The rest of the mustang world needs you to solve the problem of price now.  We want your product.

price that was more reasonable with other great tri-y headers like Doug Thorleys at around $800 per set.
tlea said " Let me start by saying these aren't for everyone so I'm not trying to start a debate"

Guess you missed that line? Sounds like you found great Doug Thorley headers, why don't you buy them?

I read your message.  You didn't start anything.  I am evaluating which headers to buy currently.  Unfortunately it won't be Scott Fuller's headers...but I wish they were.

Scott's work is impeccable.  Because he has been able to "unlocked the right fit", he could sell them by the hundreds or even thousands if it was a price that was more reasonable with other great tri-y headers like Doug Thorleys at around $800 per set.  Scott Fuller Tri-y headers will cost you and I $2750.  I hope he can reduce production cost drastically to get down to a price that is affordable for most of us.

JD,
Thanks for the info.  I prefer the color of wimbledon white over any other white but this is good info to know for me going forward.

Hello,
I have a question:  Were the white 1966 GT350 stripes over the top of the car wimbledon white?  Or were they a different color white?  I ask that because the side stripe kits don't look wimbledon white but more of a pure white.  With that said, if the over the car stripes were wimbledon white and the side decal stripes were NOT wimbledon white, wouldn't there be a color issue apparent to the eye?

rraceme I believe I understand what you are saying in that you aren't looking for a perfect, concours exhaust just a good set.  You can take a picture and go to a local muffler shop and they will fabricate an H pipe at a reasonable price and in fact do the entire exhaust less the headers.  Purchase the headers from Jim and you can also call Cobra Automotive and see what they have.  In my opinion, the Scott Fuller exhaust is for folks that are shooting for a vehicle to be judged.

That kind of quality at an affordable price (compared to mass aftermarket) doesn't go hand in hand.  I own a machine and fabrication shop and craftsmanship is expensive.

This is your best bet. I crunched a collector on 843 getting it off the trailer at Willow in the early 80s. I ended up sticking some 4 tube on it. Local shop did a crossover just behind the rear trans mount. Couple of glass packs and side exit and I was done. I'm saddened to see that these fun to drive cars now require $4,000 exhaust and $20,000 paint jobs. I don't enjoy going to shows anymore where the only difference in the cars is the date codes on the sheet metal and glass. Give me day 2 cars that tell a story.

great perspective.  You've just helped me make my decision.  I am not trying to win trophies at car shows.  I want to run the heck out of my 66 kar and not worry about it.

i recently cut the dual exhaust off my 66 gt350 to install a 65 style side exit exhaust.

I love the sound now and would have given you my old exhaust it was very recently replaced.

I live in central va and you can have it if you want. need a little welding to put back together.

PJG01 - Thank you for your generous offer. I plan to put a new exhaust system on my car when i start reassembly. Im still 18 months from that point. But I do like to plan out every detail of my restorations. Im finishing one of my Clone 66 GT350 now and though I'm pleased with the 1000.00 system i purchased. I want better for my real GT350 when i start it. Right now I'm hoping to hear feedback from other owners on header & H pipes & systems they used in their builds. Ive found all members on this forum have a lot of wisdom and a desire to share their experiences - which i plan to utilize in designing my exhaust system.
thank you for your offer! BTW- i bet the 65 exhaust set on your car sounds great!

I sent you a PM.  Can you give me a call?

Gents,
I am in the market to buy tri-y headers and an h-pipe for my 66 fastback k-code.  I was looking at Scott Fuller Reproductions.  Scott Fuller sells a gt-350 h-pipe reproduction but there is a disclaimer:  "Note:  This H-pipe will fit original Tri-Y headers.  It may not fit aftermarket headers."  So that leaves me with this question:  Does anyone sell an exact reproduction of Tri-y headers?

I've tried both and Brett doesn't have anything that I am looking for.  Vernon has not replied yet.

Hi Evan,

I received your inquiry in September of 2017, responded then. Have never received further communication if you have attempted to send something my way recently.

Happy to keep you in mind on an unrestored 66. Actually just had a blue/white stripe/chrome magnum/4 speed car like what you are looking for come in two months ago. Car hadn't seen the light of day in a long time.  It was sold before it got to KC though. Shoot me an email with exactly what you are looking for and, again, happy to keep you in mind when something comes up.

Kind regards,
Vern

If you have a 66 GT350 in original unrestored, unmolested and cared for status, that has a nice patina to its finish, I am interested in purchasing.  Attached is an example of what I am looking for.

PM me so we can exchange information.

Did anyone every hear back from the OP?  Did he in fact find an authentic Shelby?

Hello, I am thinking of joining SAAC by become a paid member.  Would love to see if there are any events or meetings to attend and get involved.

Currently I am on the hunt for a 66 gt350 in original unmolested condition.  I prefer the patina look vs a restored gt350.

Looking forward to meeting people.

Hello,
I was given some advise to become a SAAC member since I am on the hunt for a 1966 GT350.  I was hoping someone can give me the pros of membership.

In addition, my ultimate goal is to find an original Gt350 with patina.  I prefer the unrestored look similar to the photo.

Thanks everyone.  The 65-66 GT350 is the sexiest car to come out of the 1960s.
