Small letters (after aprox 280) on all but the earliest 67 Shelby's which got the large letter.
Thanks, I found the SA memo stuffed in one of my files shows 230 . I also had a handwritten note that they were brought back for the 68s

That is why I used aprox. ;) I do not believe it is a hard number. Early 68's used the small letter tires the same as 67 production ended with. The large letters transitioned back for a time after that before being phased out again and the E70 15 blackwall tire became the normal.
Cmon Bob - you know evrything Shelby is to the exact number ;D ;D ;D

He likes to be nonchalant and wants you to think it's an educated guess. ;)
I had small letter Goodyear tires on my car built Nov 21, car #006 information is from the original owner.

I think Mike was referencing my reply #3 which talked about 68 production starting out using the small letter tires. For clarification and context Mikes car #006 completed at Ford on Nov of 1967. Mike Shally's car is a 68 Shelby and not a 67 Shelby which the discussion started out being about.
Dont mean to turn this, but Mr Gaines is correct.
1968s used small letters until mid-Jan /Feb then switched to large letter. When the KRs came out near the end of April, cars got the polyglas blackwall GT tires.
I have seen a few aborations, but that is otherwise correct
Not trying to hijack the thread, but I have posted a real nice set of big letters in the for sale section of the forum if anyone needs a set .......
