Quote from: highland green on May 13, 2024, 10:59:09 PMDo 1969 G.T. 500s use a single or dual vacuum distributor? Thanks in advance
H dist for 4 speed and J for auto and to be clear that is for a 1969 and not a 70. Dual vacuum advance with have HP6 stamped on it. https://www.428cobrajet.org/id-distributor

Quote from: stephen_becker on May 06, 2024, 07:27:48 PMOn some of the Mecum cars they will not disclose the VIN number unless you are registered to bid?! WTF? Really?...........
Are you sure you have to be registered and not just have an account to see all the specifics? I can see vins and  I'm not registered to bid. Which cars are in question so I can look?

Quote from: roddster on May 12, 2024, 11:19:09 AMCan anyone explain why the lil Red car appears to be Maroon? Cars in the background are a real red. Wondering about this.
And, too bad it's blurry, I wonder what the fender strips says, GT500 or
EXP ?

Does the opening for EXP500 or GT500 look longer to accept the extra letter?

I got a "New" reproduction pair of them never used  BUT no date codes and just the eng #s on them. I bought them to be "trunk" items if I ever sell the car as I'm running hookers on my Mach1. I paid 375 for them with bolts so at that price I said WTH. They look really good to me the pair I have. On the car I wonder how much you could see fully dressed.

Quote from: chipsdad56 on May 01, 2024, 10:03:12 PMHi,I'm looking for a few original 68 Shelby parts. Please let me know if you would like to sell any of the following:

1. Drivers side end cap for fastback.
2. Fog light support.
3. GT350 dash emblem.
4. Front letter panel.
John

I added a picture of the dash emblem I am looking to buy.
Damn you are killing me as I might also need a few of those parts but until I have my next 68 title in my hand I'm not buying any parts(owner is waiting on it).

Wanted to Buy / Re: 1970 Shelby rotors
May 09, 2024, 08:29:04 AM
Quote from: Duhner on May 08, 2024, 11:26:09 PMHello! I'm looking for a set of 1970 Shelby rotors. The ones with the big bearings. I've been looking and it dose not seem like they make them any more. Any help! Thanks
I hope you can connect with Bob. Talking to Ed many years ago on how the reproduction rotors came about I bought a set I have put away for my car. Now a little history here: When I bought my 70 Gt500 the seller said he had a rotor "made" up. He had a new disc put on the hub. I wondered WTH? You can buy brand new rotors. It wasn't until a year later and now owning 2 B2 suspension 70 Shelbys I found out the differences from Jim Cowles in 1986. So do you have your original set? If you do you can get some discs pressed on I would think. If not then I'd grab Bob's set real fast.

Quote from: Steve Meltzer on April 29, 2024, 08:48:18 AMThanks guys! I did not do the work myself, although it was done at my house, by professional mechanic. I will check with him. I will also put a jack under the lower side which I believe is the left, but I will check this morning. Thanks again steve.
I don't think a side matters that they are installed on. I took my original suspension off of my 68 and detailed it out 16 years ago. I installed springs from a 302 68 coupe(GT350 car). The height on the front was level. Ditto for many cars I did a full resto on including my 70 GT350 vert. Good luck on this.

Quote from: deathsled on May 03, 2024, 05:56:05 PMHark, doeth one hear the ever so faint echoes in the background of voices saying "You better get rid of that damn car.  It's the car or me."  and similar such ultimatums.  Anyone gives me such an ultimatum (they didn't either from fear or some heretofore undisclosed reason) they are getting the boot.  That's a lot of Shelbys on the chopping block.  I might actually drive down to Indy and witness the sorrow.
come on down. I saw a LOT of Shelbys last year also. The SAAC Spring fling is just an hour south of there in beautiful Nashville Indiana at Brown county state park.

Quote from: Royce Peterson on May 02, 2024, 11:38:22 AMI shipped a bare 390 block a couple years ago. With a pallet, plumber's tape to secure it to the pallet, and wrapped in plastic the scale barely hit 200 pounds. A 428 should be a bit lighter with a bigger bore.
Thanks Royce. Gary

Quote from: 68stangcjfb on May 02, 2024, 09:02:50 AMI put a 30 over 428 C scratch block on a scale years ago and as I recall I think it was 173 pounds. I didn't weigh the crank. A Cobra Jet intake was 74 pounds.
Thanks. About 15 years ago I sold 2 CJ intakes on the 428CJ forum. a spring 68 date coded intake weighed 84 pounds double wrapped in cardboard. The spring 70 date coded intake wrapped exactly the same weighed 88 pounds. We got an engine on a stand we may have to lift off by hand and it is an almost bare block with the cam and crankshaft in it with the front damper and pulley still on.
