Amazing find..one of the four factory supercharged GT350s.

The owner was a nice lady in a tough spot. Glad to see everyone there helping get the car out of the garage was very respectable.
Would be great to see a follow up when the car is completed...hopefully they will be able to take her for a ride in it.

Wow, what a huge project.  I hope all the important pieces are there.  Who is the guy who purchased it?  Is he on the forum here?

Also, do we know what car number this is?  I can't wait to see the finished car.

Isnt there 35 Factory cars and 4 dealer add on blower cars?

There is no cut out for a Paxton air cleaner intake in radiator support. They show 2 invoices, one voided with supercharger... and one without the Paxton option. I would say it was not a Paxton car.

The car is #2213 and unfortunately it never got its Paxton. The registry list it as a factory paxton car and so does the Marti Report. The 10 years that I knew about the car before I bought it I thought it was a factory Paxton car. The car was diverted to fill another order while it was waiting to have the Paxton installed. I found this information out the day before I bought the car, however the lack of a hole in the radiator support was raised many questions. The Marti Report list it as 1 of the 35 Paxton cars. I would like to know how many Cars actually had the Paxton installed. On a positive note the car did come with the complete Paxton supercharger setup in the box.

Shane, thanks for sharing the Shelby number with us.  It sounds like the car went to the right person.  Someone who could undertake a full restoration like that.  I do hope you keep us informed as to progress of your restoration.

I will have to check my in-house Paxton installation sheet for 2354, it lists the later installs done at the factory

The fact that a Paxton set up was found in a box, in the garage, with a bunch of other extra aftermarket parts, does not mean the car was delivered NEW with the Paxton in a box.  No reason for the judges to try and figure it out.  The fact is, since the car does not have the proper Paxton modifications performed by Shelby American, means the car did not leave SA with a S/C from new.  There were a few '67 cars slated to receive Paxtons, but never did, which does not make them an original Paxton car.

The Paxton included with the car comment was referring to the current situation and not that the car was originally delivered that way. I simply meant that it was a nice surprise to find a complete never installed Paxton supercharger (paradise wheels receipt) included in all the boxes.

The video is only 19 minutes of a 10 hour day of sorting through boxes, shelves, and the attic.  I have the majority of the parts. The only major piece that we haven't located so far is the steering wheel, which we believe Al packed away for safekeeping somewhere in the house. I did find the original horn button so the steering wheel has to be there.

The plan for the car is to restore it back to the way it left Shelby American, which unfortunately means without the Paxton supercharger. I will post progress information and will have tons of questions.

In previous discussions with the '67 Registrar, Dave Mathews, he said there were about 25 cars that were invoiced with Paxtons.

If I misinterpreted that, I apologize, but that's what he told me.

I presume that means they were installed at SA and not just put in a box in the trunk to be delivered to the selling dealer for them to or not install on the car?

I do know that there were a couple of '68s that were sold with them in kit form "in the trunk" but there were never any SA invoiced that way that I saw. Considering though that about 1/2 (1,900) of the '68 factory invoices were missing at the time, that leaves a lot of room in discovery. At least it did.

Those were the copies of Fords invoices that Pardee brought back from Dearborn. Emminger got the same copies and at the time, no one knew where the rest of them were or if they still did exist.

All considered, I think that only a Marti report can document what Fords records would show on an individual car now.

My records did indicate this car as one of the four that received the factory installed SC, but apparently that was not the case. I assume that the SC found was not period correct, is that right?

Just for clarification – Was this car delivered to Universal Motors – Akron Ohio, as seen on the Invoice? Records show this car being delivered to Brondes Motor Sales, Inc. - Toledo, Ohio.

The only reference I have to Universal Motors is located in Annapolis, MD, which received one car #1733.

Just want to correct any errors that I have in my records.

Thanks,

Dennis

The voided invoice ( with supercharger)is universal motors and the second invoice (without supercharger) is for Brondes motors.

The Paxton supercharger I got with the car is brand new from paradise wheels purchased in 2011.

Thank you for the clarification. Much appreciated. Keep us up to date on your progress.

I know what you mean about putting things away for safe keeping. I too am still looking for where I placed an original steering wheel. I am sure it is bound to show up someday when I least expect to find it.

KShane,
Thanks for sharing all this info with us about your find.

I'm going to start a separate thread on 67 Paxton cars. This should help keep your thread focused on #2213 and help to answer some of the questions that have been raised about all the others. I'll post a link in this reply once done.

All considered, I think that only a Marti report can document what Fords records would show on an individual car now.

The 2011 registry notes 28 (1967) invoices with Paxton superchargers. It does not mention how many were installed at LAX or how many were simply put in the trunk to be installed at the dealer. It also notes 4 additional cars had them dealer installed (I assume they were not on the SA invoice as they are likely after the sales additions).

Marti records are from Ford not Shelby American, so someone had to share the SA info with Marti to include on the Marti report. Unfortunately we have to trust that any corrections/updates were shared as well. For the '67 model year that is not the best path as I've heard of errors on Marti reports numerous times. We need to keep in mind Shelby American could have made changes on some cars after receipt from Ford to meet dealer/customer orders quickly.

I'll try to address all these questions in a new thread specific to Paxton Supercharged cars, so not to clutter up this post about #2213.

All true but the Marti reports on the '67 Shelbys include the Shelby serial numbers which were not assigned by Ford but SA.

So agreed, there is need for clarity on the superchargers as well as how information was shared with Marti.

Now here's a question. Some Shelby items were installed on the Ford engine assembly line, not at SA. Valve covers, intakes, carbs.
Could that be true of the Paxtons also?

Assuming you are referring to only factory completed cars, most were inboards, but not all.
A couple were built after mid May that probably had outboard grille lights. At least one, #2354 had outboards.

There is likely one dealer installed car with outboards as well. Also completed after mid May 1967.
