Howard strongly believes that it is 6S483 (with blue side stripes). Also note the original California license plate number.

Can you guys see it now?
I see nothing!
Steve
I don't see it either. I'm using a Mac if that matters.
Can't see it
I don't know what was going on there.
You should be able to see it now.
Notice the direction the grill horse is running, towards the driver side.
Cory
Good now, Brant. Thanks!
Chet Monez! Been looking for more things on them, thanks.
My KR was sold new there.
I still can't see it, either on an Apple product or a PC. :-\

I know that car. How he can drive around with all of those trophies on the hood is beyond me?
Hmm, SET 006 is a well known 65 GT350.
If the tag on the car is SET 006, as pointed out by sd427, rather than SET 095 in the trophy car image, I still don't see it ???
honker,
My records show 5S258 as having California license plates SET 006 and 6s483 as having SET 095.

Yes, I was merely pointing out the coincidence that two Shelby Mustangs ended up with CA license plates a few numbers apart. In 1963, the last time everyone in CA had to get new plates, seeing another car with a sequence number close to yours typically meant they lived nearby and went to the same DMV office to renew their registration. Once that was over, in the following years, I don't know how the plates were distributed. Did car dealers have a batch of sequential plates, that they assigned to vehicles as they were sold? I do know that my father's 1969 Ford van was issued ZLS 226, and there is a 1969 Shelby Mustang, with a single owner, with a ZLS plate. Both vehicles were sold at the same dealer. I don't know if the plates came from the dealer, or both my father and the owner of the Mustang went to the same DMV office.
Yea, I see the photo now. Thanks Brant!!
Let's me go back to the time over those early 80's that I (was oh so close) to being able to buy one but, just couldn't do it. Kids, etc, just COULD NOT purchase one!! $6500 back then might as well been 1/2 Million $ to me. Was never in that position to buy an early Shelby.
So the next best thing to me is seeing these vintage photos and keep the faith AND enjoy the stories you guys have :D
Man, keep bringing these photos. Love 'em ;D ;)
I can see it on the post above now.
